Avinash’s story is an inspiring one. He was a victim of a so called irreversible disease that is thyroid and suffered from depression because of his excess weight. “What is written in the western medicines is just a fraction of knowledge from our natural science. I have faith and proof that the so-called irreversible diseases can also be reversed by this way of life.”
Can the cure be so simple?
Last year in July – I was still desperately looking for a way to reverse my Thyroid, bronchitis and obesity. Because of this unusual trio, my life was running on medicines and inhalers. I had to take them to even have a good night’s sleep. I was looked down upon in my office because of my excess weight (I stood at 105 kg before any of this). All of this broke my spirit every day.
YouTube was an odd place to look for answers but I was ready to grab whatever was thrown my way. After searching for days, I came across a video called ‘3 ways to detoxify your body’ by Satvic movement. Subah shared how wet pack, enema and fasting can heal my disease. I remember asking myself – Can the cure be so simple? The video made so much sense that I was tempted to try it for a week. The week turned into a month and a month turned into a lifestyle that I have today.
Tools to create a beautiful life
Fasting was a new concept for me. My initial motivation was to lose weight with fasting. During the first week, I remember feeling hungry while in bed and resisting the temptation to eat past 7 PM. It required determination to keep going on but my will power was wearing thin. On top of it, I had only lost ½ a KG after 3 weeks of fasting. I started doubting myself and was completely unmotivated to continue. I remember needing to find a solution urgently. I wanted to stay on this path. I went back and saw the same video again and another video about eating the right way. I incorporated wet packs and the food laws of the Satvic lifestyle into my routine. I also gradually removed dairy from my diet. Ever since that day, I haven’t looked back.
Tools to create a beautiful life
I started with 16-hour fasting and gradually added wet packs, the satvic diet and sun gazing to my life. Each step felt like I was unlocking a new level of living life. Of Course, there were some challenges when I started out with the Satvic diet. It took me almost 10 days to develop a taste for the satvic sabzi and salt-free rotis. Now it is a staple in my family, everyone eats a satvic roti. The practice of sun gazing and sunbathing took me by surprise. It is not only a physical activity for me anymore. I have an emotional connect with the Sun. I feel like the sun has helped me to stay on this path.
I left out just one step from the entire lifestyle - Enema. I could never come to terms with it. Although I can understand how it can help in the detoxification process, I did not feel the need to use it.
धीरे-धीरे रे मना, धीरे सब कुछ होय
माली सींचे सौ घड़ा, ॠतु आए फल होय
I don’t know what got into me, I just didn’t face any challenges after the first month. My motivation was fueled by constant weight loss and after following this lifestyle for almost 6 months, I stood tall at 87 Kgs (yes! I lost 18 Kgs just by improving my way of living).
Very soon, I saw my patience bear another fruit. My quarterly thyroid test was due, I was secretly hoping to see a drop in my TSH levels. Generally in such a situation, I would keep my hopes low but within 6 months, I had such trust over what I was doing that I was not expecting anything less than what I saw next. My TSH had dropped from 15 to 4.5. This meant that I no longer suffered from an imbalanced thyroid. That was one of the sweetest moments of my life, it felt like I had won an impossible battle.
I took another daring step and quit taking my thyroid medicines. I did not go ask a doctor if I should reduce the dosage or quit because somewhere I knew that they will keep me in the loop of medicines. It has been almost 9 months now that I have quit my medicines. My TSH levels have not gone above the normal limit of 5. I have also reversed my bronchitis, I don’t need an inhaler to sleep at night.
When I share this knowledge with others, I usually tell them that following this lifestyle is like riding a bike. It is challenging and confusing at first, you don’t know how to balance all of it together but a point comes after which it becomes effortless, you feel so confident that you even leave the support of the handles. All it requires to go through the rough patches is patience and faith in the knowledge.
The same colleagues who made fun of my weight now joke how I may be a living miracle. Reversing an irreversible disease like thyroid seemed like a miracle out of a fairy tale to me too till a year ago. But now, I have conviction and proof that no matter what the disease, it can be reversed! All that is required is patience and trust in this lifestyle.
